St. Mary Child Development Center was designed to provide a safe, loving and creative environment for your child. Our curriculum is designed under the High Scope theory that integrates the concepts, skills and philosophies that involve creative thinking. An Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) will be conducted by a qualified team to determine the appropriateness of additional services.
An Ages and Stages assessment will be conducted at the beginning of the school year. The COR will be used throughout the school year to assess each child's progress. Lesson plans will be based around each child's needs and interests to promote developmental progress. A family report will be provided during conferences at least three times each school year.
The preschool child (age 2 1/2 to 4) program is filled with a variety of learning opportunities that become the building block for each child. We focus on developing social skills and developing a desire for learning. We maintain a ratio of no more than 8 children to 1 adult.
Active learning is the principle element within our educational approach for the Kindergarten Readiness child (age 4-5). Our Kindergarten Readiness program serves children who will be entering Kindergarten the following fall. We enjoy field trips, special events and parties throughout the school year. We maintain a ratio of 1 to 12 children per 1 adult.
Also available starting for the 2016-2017 school year we will be offering a half day afternoon class from 12:15-3:15 Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
GREAT START READINESS PROGRAM (GSRP)
We also offer the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP). GSRP is a state- funded program for children 4 years old who qualify. This program operates October thru June each school year and classes meet Monday thru Thursday at no cost to the families. An additional Preschool Questionnaire and enrollment meeting are required to determine eligibility for this program.
SCHOOL AGE PROGRAM
Our before and after youth services program allows children ages 5-12 to experience a wide variety of activities. Time is available for homework, tutoring and outdoor play. We also provide services when school is not in session including snow days and 1/2 days.
Our program is committed to the principle of inclusion. Our staff will receive ongoing training on inclusion and special needs. Staff and families collaborate to meet the individual needs of the child. Confidentiality of children and families is respected.
